1. How have you seen classroom management done?
Pretty well, considering the horror stories I heard in class today. I guess the better you're doing, the more smoothly everything goes, the less people notice.
2. What specific things have you seen teachers do to manage the learning environment?
Best story off the top of my head: A social studies teacher whose initials are BP had two lounge chairs in the middle of his class to be used whenever there was a discussion to be held. This was effective because instead of divided sections of the class having multiple, sometimes unrelated, conversations, the whole class was involved in one conversation. The fact that each students had to wait their turn to speak seemed to make more students eager to share their thoughts, but even the ones who didn't feel like talking were able to hear what was going on and not miss out.
